Supporting the Trans Canada Trail Care Day 2024
On Saturday, June 1, Oak Learners joined the Trans Canada Trail Team and the Waterfront Trail team for Trail Care Day 2024! Oak Learners was excited to provide activities for families, including a self-guided scavenger hunt on the Trail.

Stunning Mural “Tangled Geese” Comes To Life in Mimico Village
The Mimico Village BIA and Oak Learners commissioned an innovative and inspirational mural for the community in September 2023. The mural was unveiled in a community event on October 28, 2023 and brought to life with an interactive video projection.
NEW Mural welcomes students at the Oak Learners Lake Shore Campus
Designed, illustrated and painted by Julia Taylor. Julia taught at Oak Learners from 2020 through 2023 and helped lead the launch of the Lake Shore Campus Location in September 2022.

More Than Just an Orange Shirt
n 1973, 6-year-old, Phyllis Webstad lived on the Dog Creek reserve and was sent to “The Mission”, a residential school. As she prepared to leave home, her grandmother managed to buy her a new outfit for her first day and Phyllis chose a bright and beautiful orange shirt. However, when she got to the residential school, they stripped her of all her clothes, and she never saw the orange shirt again.
