The GEMS are small business and service organization awards that are presented each year by James Maloney, Minister of Parliament for Etobicoke-Lakeshore. These awards celebrate the businesses, business owners and volunteers that go above and beyond for our community. The 2021 Awards were presented in a broadcast on Zoom on May 26, 2021.

Community is at the heart of the mission of Oak Learners. Since founding Oak Learners, the mandate has always included adapting and responding to the changing needs of families in our community. Oak Learners has evolved from a grassroots passion project in 2015 to a not-for-profit team of over 40 equally passionate educators and administrators. Hundreds of children and their families have found enrichment and encouragement in the programs at Oak Learners, including our day school, tutoring programs and summer camps. Our unique offering is our alternative approach to personalized learning and integration with the Arts and creative expression. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought to light the importance of increasing Outdoor Education for children, and Oak Learners has been able to stay open throughout the pandemic years to serve the Etobicoke-Lakeshore community.
