Student Experience at Oak Learners

by | Mar 16, 2021 | Announcements.

Oak Learners provides a learning environment for children that allows them to feel welcomed by the caring and loving teachers that are a part of the Oak Learners team! The teachers always create lesson plans that are adaptable and individualized, so they are able to meet the needs of each individual child.

A parent had said that it is such a great feeling as a parent to know that your child is excited and happy about going to school each day! This parent’s son had mentioned that his teachers are very supportive of his learning and get excited when he makes progress! This allows her son to always stay motivated when it comes to learning because he knows that his learning needs will always be supported when necessary by the teachers at Oak Learners. It was stated by this parent that “He loves the environment of the school, all the staff, the students, his experiences there all while learning”.

This is a feeling that parents want their child to feel while they are at school so that there are never any worries about them not being supported. Oak Learners is able to provide the support needed towards children and families while also making them feel as if they are appreciated within!

“Every child deserves a champion — An adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be”

Melissa Shoesmith

Hello, my name is Melissa Shoesmith and I am currently in my fifth semester at Seneca College in the Bachelors of Child Development program. I am completing my field placement here at Oak Learners. Working with children is the most rewarding job in the world in my opinion. I love having the opportunity to watch children learn and grow. I always want to make a positive impact on a child's life!

Two students from Oak Learners have their artwork featured at this year’s Tis the Season Art Show at the Assembly Hall at Humber College. Featuring art created by students from local schools, the works in this exhibition speaks to the seasonal changes from autumn to winter, like snowfalls and long periods of darkness, and the cultural traditions they help shape. The exhibition is open from November 19 to December 18, 2024.
