Oak Online Virtual Classes

Oak Learners offers a virtual learning platform to support children’s learning within the comfort of their own homes.

The goal of Oak Online is to foster learning by utilizing an “authentic skill-based curriculum”. Oak Online teachers always ensure they are supportive of the curiosities that children display while exploring the world they live in and this is done by conducting experiences virtually that are student-centered.

Oak Online is provided through an online platform called Zoom! The online classrooms include the opportunity for one-on one support, group work, interactive experiences with peers, Art experiences, Yoga and meditation, STEM Enrichment, Music and Movement as well as private tutoring! Oak Online has a schedule to outline the activities that happen at the time designated for each day of the week from Monday through Friday along with the age group that it is designed for. They also provide a detailed description of each of the classes offered to see if they suit the interests of your child.

A parent mentioned that, “In a time of so much uncertainty, it has been wonderful to see a school press forward and embrace the change. Thank you to Oak Learners for helping keep my 7th grade educated during these unprecedented times.”

Melissa Shoesmith

Hello, my name is Melissa Shoesmith and I am currently in my fifth semester at Seneca College in the Bachelors of Child Development program. I am completing my field placement here at Oak Learners. Working with children is the most rewarding job in the world in my opinion. I love having the opportunity to watch children learn and grow. I always want to make a positive impact on a child's life!

At Oak Learners Before and After School Enrichment Program we explore a range of activities. I absolutely love doing art with the kids! I get to teach them about new materials, how to use art materials properly to keep them working well for longer, and information about the projects and topics we are working on. I love the exploration, creativity, and learning opportunities that art provides.

Benefits of Risky Play and Outdoor Education

Risky play can sound intimidating and many parents feel the same way. In fact, these concerns are natural, but they also often limit our ability to allow children to fully explore their surroundings and be exposed to new opportunities. Although risky play can sound dangerous and sometimes scary, it is important to remember that it is an essential part of development in several domains.
