Oak Learners named “Best in Arts & Culture” for 2023 in the annual GEMS of Etobicoke-Lakeshore Awards

Oak Learners was the distinguished recipient of the 2023 GEMS of Etobicoke-Lakeshore Award in the category of Best Arts & Culture. The GEMS are small business and service organization awards that are presented each year by James Maloney, Minister of Parliament for Etobicoke-Lakeshore. These awards celebrate the businesses, business owners and volunteers that go above and beyond for our community. The 2023 Awards were presented at a special ceremony at the Mimico Cruising Club on August 22, 2023. Oak Learners has been nominated for a GEM Award every year since 2015 and also won in the category of Best Professional Service Business in 2021.

Kelly Farrell

Kelly Farrell is the Founder and Director of Oak Learners. She is dedicated to supporting learners of all ages and abilities reach their goals and love the learning journey. Kelly’s philosophy of education is based in the understanding that every child has the capacity to excel and succeed when they are given the tools and taught the skills to help them on their journey.

Student Art at the Annual ‘Tis the Season Children’s Art Show

Two students from Oak Learners have their artwork featured at this year’s Tis the Season Art Show at the Assembly Hall at Humber College. Featuring art created by students from local schools, the works in this exhibition speaks to the seasonal changes from autumn to winter, like snowfalls and long periods of darkness, and the cultural traditions they help shape. The exhibition is open from November 19 to December 18, 2024.
