Pink Shirt Day (Anti-Bully Day) is a day of awareness and inclusion that takes place annually in Canada to inform and take a stand against bullying. This year Pink Shirt Day is Wednesday, February 22nd. At Oak Learners, we believe that it is important to take part in this day to promote kindness, acceptance, and to highlight the importance of inclusion and community.
Every year on Pink Shirt Day we make sure that our students are aware of the importance and significance of not only the day itself but also what it means to stand up to bully and become an ally. In the weeks leading up to Pink Shirt Day, our teachers and educators will talk to the students about the importance of kindness and acceptance, and how we can all make a difference by standing up against bullying.
This year Oak Learners has decided to help better promote Pink Shirt Day by selling ‘Be Kind’ pink shirts to the community. All proceeds of the shirt sales will be donated to WITS to help support kids managing conflict in schools, in their families, and community. WITS provides valuable resources and programs to help kids during times of conflict.
Shirts are available to order on our website OakLearners.ca and can be picked up at both our Royal York and Lake Shore campuses.
In addition to the pink shirts Oak Learners will be selling a non for profit “Pink Shirt Day” hat.
