Our Students join the Shoreline Cleanup at Colonel Sam Smith Park for Earth Day 2024

by | Apr 23, 2024 | Outdoor Education, School Life

One of the 3 tenets of Oak Learners’ philosophy is COMMUNITY. Our students are important members of the local community and we enjoy local parks and nature spots every day as part of our Outdoor Learning curriculum.

On Monday, April 22, the entire student body and staff team gathered at the shores of Colonel Samuel Smith Park to collect garbage in an effort to contribute to keeping our shoreline and park free of garbage. Taking part in community cleanups are integral to teaching our students that we can make a big difference with just a little bit of effort. It also helps impress upon them the important lessons in Outdoor Education of “leave no trace”.

Earth Day is every day at Oak Learners!

Featuring art created by students from local schools, the works in this exhibition speaks to the seasonal changes from autumn to winter, like snowfalls and long periods of darkness, and the cultural traditions they help shape. The exhibition is open from November 19 to December 18, 2024.
