At Oak Learners Before and After School Enrichment Program we explore a range of activities. I absolutely love doing art with the kids! I get to teach them about new materials, how to use art materials properly to keep them working well for longer, and information about the projects and topics we are working on. I love the exploration, creativity, and learning opportunities that art provides.
The adventure has officially begun at Oak Learners: Lakeshore Campus! Our Middle School “Flight” unit is soaring to new heights and we couldn’t be more excited!
By learning directly from Indigenous voices and engaging with their histories and cultures, our students are better equipped to contribute to a more just and inclusive society. This journey is a testament to the power of inquiry-based learning and the importance of collaboration with Indigenous communities in education.
Students in our class each chose one spirit animal or First Nations image to paint. Following a “paint by colour” template, the children painted with traditional native American colours (black, red and blue) to form an image.
Through watching a mini documentary on the Bahamas, our students grew interested in the world’s oceans! We asked as series of questions to guide their learning and launch us into a cross-curriuclar study.
