A Magical Evening of Music and Theatre at Oak Learners

Jun 25, 2025 | BASE Camps, Education, Music, School Life, Student Showcase

On June 5th, Oak Learners wrapped up the 2024–2025 school year with a spectacular outdoor concert at Amos Waites Park. Students from our Day School, B.A.S.E. (Before and After School Enrichment) program, and private music lessons took to the stage to share the music and theatre pieces they’ve been working so hard on all year.

It was an evening full of talent, heart, and celebration. Our dedicated music teachers stood beaming from the wings or joined their students on stage, while day school staff, before and after care educators, parents, and admin were behind the scenes—fixing costumes, offering last-minute hugs, and cheering everyone on. With the event expertly hosted by Mishka and Aaron, the audience was warmly welcomed into an unforgettable showcase.

The show opened with our youngest performers singing “All in the Golden Afternoon” from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. Wearing bright, cheerful flower hats, the children lit up the stage with their smiles and set the tone for the joyful evening ahead.

Next, our Micro School students transported us to a whimsical dream world with their creative rendition of Alice in Wonderland. They didn’t just act—they designed props, styled their own costumes, and truly brought the story to life in a performance that was both playful and imaginative, captivating audience members of all ages.

Then came the high-energy performance from our B.A.S.E. Camp students, who sang “Today’s Gonna Be a Great Day” from Phineas and Ferb, with some Oak Learners-style flair. In full costume and with boundless enthusiasm, 20 students danced and sang their hearts out, creating a seamless bridge to the solo music performances that followed.

From there, our talented private music students took center stage:

  • Adam and Aariz wowed the crowd with a Beatles medley featuring Aariz on drums.
  • Leia and Sofia delivered sweet, on-pitch renditions of Do-Re-Mi and Old MacDonald Had a Song on piano.
  • Aariz returned to accompany his sister Tharya on Winnie the Pooh—a beautiful sibling duet on drums and piano.

The stage was then graced with a variety of solo performances:

  • Evelyn played “Willow” by Taylor Swift on the ukulele, followed by Willow performing “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran.
  • Kai and Eleanor filled the park with melody through “Little Bird” and “Jazzy Joe” on piano.
  • Nicholas brought nostalgic charm with “On Top of Old Smokey,” while Everleigh, Hayleigh, and Matteo offered lovely renditions of “Balloons,” “Mister Bluebird,” “I Forgot That You Existed,” and “Chess/Rat Dance.”

Our Micro School students weren’t done yet:

  • Anika took the spotlight as a solo vocalist with “Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish—her third performance of the night!
  • Hamdi showcased his piano talent with “Green Hill Zone” from Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • Cassandra transformed from the Caterpillar in the play to a butterfly on stage, singing “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
  • And Erin, our Alice, closed her Wonderland chapter to sing “Young and Sad” by Noah Cyrus as herself, leaving the crowd enchanted.

The night also highlighted the many sibling duos and family vibes that Oak is known for:

  • Case and Harlow performed “Lean on Me” together on piano.
  • Eleanor and Amelia formed their own trio with their teacher Celine, as Amelia sang “Rainbow Connection” and “Let It Be” with Eleanor on ukulele and Celine on piano.

It was truly a magical evening. The growth in confidence, skill, and creativity we witnessed from our young performers was incredible. As the sun set over the park, we knew one thing for certain: these students are already dreaming up what they’ll bring to the stage next year.
