The adventure has officially begun at Oak Learners: Lakeshore Campus! Our Middle School “Flight” unit is soaring to new heights and we couldn’t be more excited!
Under the guidance of our passionate lead teacher and vice principal, Mishka, who is making learning take-off (lol) in style by dressing up as a different flight-related character each day, the students are already immersed in hands on, inquiry-based experiences. During the first week, we kicked things off with a flight simulation and a trip to watch airplanes land- just the beginning of an action-packed 6 weeks ahead!
With a focus on experiential-learning, our unit connects the science of flight to math (think measurement of speed, altitude, and distance!) and tons of STEM opportunities. Middle School students kicked off their exploration of area and measurement in the best classroom of all – the great outdoors 🌲 With real-life measuring tools ⚒️ in hand, they distances, learned practical math skills, and discovered how math applies to the world around them. This is more than just numbers it’s about DOING to learn, sparking curiosity, and building confidence. Every step is an adventure here, where creativity and community are at the heart of everything we do.
