PA Day Camp at Oak Learners

At Oak Learners, our nature school approach to PA days allows for direct engagement with the natural world. Each camp day is thoughtfully designed to be rooted in exploration—whether it’s hiking through local parks, observing wildlife, or conducting hands-on science activities in the fresh air. Campers are encouraged to ask questions, make discoveries, and connect with their environment in meaningful ways. By blending inquiry-based learning with outdoor play, these camps foster curiosity, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the ecosystems right in our own backyard.

September 26, 2025 Celebrating Trees: Our Community Canopy

🌳 PA Day Camp at Oak Learners: Celebrating Trees: Our Community Canopy
Join us for a nature-filled adventure along the vibrant tree canopy of Toronto’s waterfront! This Outdoor Camp invites curious young minds to discover the natural wonders in our own backyard through immersive, hands-on experiences.
Campers will explore local parks and wildlife habitats while learning to identify native tree species and observe how ecosystems shift with the seasons. Through guided nature walks and interactive activities, they’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the environment around them.

🎨 Campers will also engage in nature-inspired art projects that reflect the “leave-no-trace” philosophy—creating sustainable works using materials found in the wild.

🌲 Most of the day will be spent outdoors in nearby forests and parks. Campers should come dressed for the weather and be ready to enjoy a picnic-style lunch and snacks. Comfortable walking shoes and a lightweight daypack are essential for a full day of exploration and fun.

October 10, 2025 Local Harvest/Autumn Acres

🍂 Thanksgiving PA Day Camp at Oak Learners: A Celebration of Harvest & Gratitude
This Thanksgiving, we’re gathering around the table to celebrate the season of abundance and appreciation. Campers will take part in a hands-on culinary experience, preparing a simple, delicious meal together using ingredients from our local stores.

🥕 From chopping veggies to baking seasonal treats, campers will learn about where our food comes from and how to cook with care and creativity. Along the way, we’ll explore the meaning of gratitude through storytelling, reflection, and nature-based activities that highlight the beauty of the fall season.

🌾 Campers will also engage in outdoor adventures, discovering how the changing landscape reflects the rhythms of the harvest. Whether it’s collecting colorful leaves, crafting with natural materials, or sharing a meal in community, this camp is all about connection—to nature, to each other, and to the spirit of thankfulness.

Please dress for the weather and bring a reusable container for leftovers—because sharing food is part of the joy!

November 14, 2025 Storytelling

📖 PA Day Camp at Oak Learners: Storytelling
This week Campers will learn the power of storytelling—an ancient tradition that connects us to the land, to each other.

🌿 Campers will explore local stories and Indigenous legends, learning how oral traditions have shaped communities and passed down knowledge for generations. Through interactive storytelling, movement, and art, we’ll dive into the elements of storytelling—character, setting, plot, and voice—while celebrating the unique ways stories are told across cultures.

🔥 From listening to legends rooted in the land to crafting their own tales inspired by nature, campers will discover how stories can teach, heal, and inspire. Activities will include nature walks, collaborative story-building, and creating visual story maps using natural materials.

This day is designed to spark imagination, deepen cultural awareness, and foster gratitude for the stories that surround us.

January 16, 2026 Winter on the Waterfront

❄️ PA Day Camp at Oak Learners: Winter on the Waterfront
Step into a world of frost and wonder as campers explore the science of ice and snow along Toronto’s stunning waterfront. This winter-themed camp invites children to investigate how snowflakes form, why ice behaves the way it does, and how animals and ecosystems adapt to the cold season.

🔬 Through hands-on experiments and playful observation, campers will uncover the mysteries of winter—from the physics of freezing to the chemistry behind snow crystals. They’ll learn how temperature, moisture, and wind shape the landscape and influence the natural world around us.

⛸️ Outdoor play is a key part of the day, with time spent exploring snowy trails, building snow structures, and engaging in winter games designed to spark curiosity and joy. Campers will experience the magic of winter through movement, creativity, and discovery.

Please dress warmly in layers, with waterproof outerwear, boots, hats, and mittens. 

February 13, 2026 Family & Friendship

💞 PA Day Camp at Oak Learners: February Family & Friendship
February is the perfect time to celebrate the connections that matter most. This camp invites children to explore the meaning of family, friendship, and community through art,  creative engineering, and winter activies.

💌 Campers will dive into heartwarming projects like crafting friendship bracelets, l  how animals adapt to winter conditions, building a  literal bridge reflecting on the metaphorical bridges we build through kindness, empathy, and teamwork. Through games and group challenges, they’ll practice teamwork, empathy, and communication—skills that help friendships flourish.

❄️ Outdoor time will include winter games and nature walks, encouraging campers to enjoy the season together and reflect on how relationships grow through shared experiences.

Whether it’s making a new friend or celebrating the ones they already have, this day is all about connection, kindness, and joy.

June 5, 2026 Summer In the City

🌆 PA Day Camp at Oak Learners: Summer in the City
Campers will set out to explore the vibrant urban landscape of South Etobicoke, uncovering the natural and cultural treasures hidden within our own community.

🚶‍♂️ Each day will include walking excursions to local parks and creeks, such as Jeff Healey Park and the banks of Mimico Creek, where campers will learn about native species and the unique birds that call Colonel Sam Smith Park wetland their home.

🗺️ Campers will also dive into map reading and geographic exploration, navigating through Humber Bay Shores to the Butterfly Habitat and participating in scavenger hunts across the Humber College Lakeshore Campus. These activities will build spatial awareness and a deeper understanding of our city’s layout and landmarks.

🔍 Through inquiry-based learning and outdoor discovery, campers will investigate what makes South Etobicoke a special and dynamic part of Toronto—celebrating its blend of nature, history, and community spirit.

What to expect at Oak Learners PA Day Camp:

At our PA Day Camp, campers will spend the day doing a variety of planned activities indoors and outdoors. Activities are designed to fit within the daily themes which have been carefully planned by team. Campers will have the opportunity to spend at least 50% of their days outside in the local community and try new activities. If you want your child to have a structured and enjoyable week in a small-group, our PA Day Camp is the place to go.

Activities may include:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Enjoying, playing, and even composing music
  • Mindfulness, yoga, and movement
  • Sports and physical challenges
  • Trips to local parks and hikes on nearby nature trails
  • Team games and team-building activities
  • Science investigations and innovations

Camp runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

(Please note: Extended hours are available only at the Royal York location, if needed, for an additional fee.)

Healthy snacks are provided. Please bring a nutritious, waste-free lunch, a reusable water bottle and appropriate footwear for walking and outdoor winter play, as there are daily elements of outdoor exploration.

Regular Camp Hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Drop-off begins at 9:00 AM, and pick-up is available until 4:00 PM at no additional cost.

Extended Hours (Royal York Location Only):
Morning: 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM
Afternoon: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Cost:
– $10 for AM or PM
– $20 for both AM & PM

Extended hours allow drop-off starting at 7:30 AM and pick-up until 6:00 PM without incurring extra charges.
