March Break is awesome at Oak Learners!

March 10-14, 2025

Every day during March Break Camp will be themed, and all activities will be related to that theme. A typical day for all campers includes morning mindfulness, fun STEM, Art, Drama and Musical activities throughout the day. Outdoor adventures to local parks or nature trails in the afternoon are augmented with engaging activities and games to keep campers active and warm!

  • FRIDAY - Freaky Friday

HOURS: Camp runs from 9:00am-4:00pm daily (Extended hours are available for an additional fee)
FOOD & SNACKS: Please send your camper with nutrition and garbage-free snacks and lunches as well as a refillable water bottle.
CLOTHING & OUTERWEAR: Campers are expected to be prepared to spend 2-3 hours outdoors every day (weather providing!). Please dress your children in layers and footwear appropriate for walking and winter play.
CAMP FEES: $395 per week, per child.
EXTENDED CARE FEES: 8:00am-9:00am ($50 per week) and/or 4:00pm-6:00pm ($50 per week). **Registration for the extended day is per-week to allow us to plan for regular staffing and supervision.
AGES: Appropriate for children ages 4 through 11 years.

Make Something Monday!

Typical Activities:

  • Paper Towel Challenge - Campers will design and build a stable tower using limited materials while exploring principles of structure, balance, and height.
  • Recycled Sculpture Creations - Campers will design and construct unique sculptures using recycled materials, learning about creative reuse and artistic expression.
  • Marble Run Maker - Campers will create a marble run that keeps a marble rolling as long as possible, learning about motion and energy in the process.
  • DIY Instrument Jam Session - Campers will design and build their own musical instruments and use them to perform rhythms and songs, learning about sound and teamwork.
  • Frozen Nature Art Challenge - Campers will collect and assemble natural materials to design outdoor art projects that reflect the winter-like environment, fostering creativity and teamwork.
  • Nature Relay Build - Campers will run, collect materials, and collaborate to "build" a structure or design as part of a fun and energetic relay.

 

Tasty Tuesday!

Typical Activities Include:

  • Menu Design - Campers will prepare their menu for the day and put into their preprinted templates to make it visually appealing.
  • Mini Pita Pizzas & No-Bake Smore Bites - Campers will learn about food preparation techniques and prepare their own lunch and snacks today.
  • Edible Masterpieces - Campers will use colourful and edible materials to create art that they can enjoy eating afterward. This activity encourages creativity, attention to detail, and a playful approach to food.
  • Kitchen Symphony - Campers will explore rhythm, sound, and teamwork by turning everyday kitchen items into instruments, creating a fun and interactive "Kitchen Symphony."
  • Tasty Treasure Hunt - Campers will explore the outdoors, solve clues, and engage in food-themed games while working together as a team.
  • Food Relay Race - Campers will race to complete a series of food-themed tasks in teams, moving quickly and using their bodies to carry out different activities.
  • Edible Engineering Challenge - Campers will use creativity and engineering skills to design and build structures using only food items. The challenge encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and applying basic physics concepts like balance, stability, and weight distribution.

Wired Wednesday

Typical Activities Include:

  • Circuit Drawing Challenge - Campers will explore how electricity flows in a circuit through a simple, fun, and hands-on drawing activity.
  • LED Light Up Creatures - Campers will learn about simple electrical circuits by designing and building their own light-up creatures using LEDs, coin cell batteries, and craft materials.
  • Bright Light Art - Campers will design a unique art piece and incorporate LEDs to make their artwork come to life.
  • Circuit Dance Party  - Featuring a playlist of upbeat, kid-friendly music and Flashlights or glow sticks for added effect.
  • Circuit Relay Adventures - Campers will learn about the flow of electricity in a circuit by acting as components in a large-scale outdoor relay game.
  • Electronic Music Exploration - Have students experiment with keyboard sounds etc to create a tempo. Put kids into teams/groups to compose a song.

Take a Trip Thursday

Typical Activities Include:

  • I Want to Take a Trip - Plan an excursion for the day! Where will we go? A beach? A Jungle? A Desert? Space? Campers dream big and vote on their daily "Amazing Race" style adventure for the day!
  • Set The Stage - Now that we know where we are going, let's transform our space. Campers will work together to create a space that looks and feels like the destination.
  • Amazing Race: Camp Edition  - Campers go on a travel-themed scavenger hunt inspired by the show The Amazing Race, completing travel-related challenges at different “countries” (stations) to progress to the finish line.
  • Passport Design - Campers will design stamps for the places they have been or want to go!
  • Themed Dance Party - For a trip to the beach, Play Beach Boys music and have a beach party with leis and swimwear and floaties etc!

Freaky Friday!

Typical Activities Include:

  • Opposite Ballon Races - Balloon rockets on a string with a Freaky Friday twist: can you make the balloons travel backward or in the opposite direction?
  • Mixed-Up Portraits - Campers will design, draw, and rearrange a self-portrait.
  • Backward Freeze Dance - When the music pauses, instead of freezing, they must move backward!
  • Freaky Relay Races - This is a relay race with a freaky twist—each leg of the race requires participants to do something completely backward, upside down, or unusual. Divide the campers into teams and set up several stations around a course.
  • Freaky Friday Mix-Up Parade - Campers create and perform a "mix-up parade" with swapped roles, backward marching, and unusual dance moves.
  • Upside Down Engineering - Challenge campers to build a structure or bridge upside down.
