Love food and adventures? Join in as we learn to cook, enjoy our food together, and then take part in a themed adventure exploring a new topic each month! From creative adventures doing art to outdoor adventures building with nature, at the end of the session you will have learned new skills both in the kitchen and through your adventure activity!
Sundays Monthly from 1:00-2:30 at the Oak Learners Royal York Campus (394 Royal York Rd. Etobicoke ON, M8Y2R3)
Sunday, January 22 – Snowman Pizza Making and Outdoor Building
Brighten up your winter by making the most adorable snowman shaped pizza…and then eating it of course! After we enjoy our meal together, we will begin our outdoor project using things found outside to build something that reminds us of winter. Fingers crossed for packing snow this day so that we can make snowmen, snow pets, snow forts, etc. If we can’t use snow, we will have to get more creative and use leaves, rocks, sticks, and other art supplies to build mini winter themed figurines such as firepits, skating rinks, or toboggans.
Sunday, February 12 – Valentine’s Cookie Decorating and Paper Flower Making
Celebrate the month of Valentine’s by decorating heart shaped cookies with plenty of love (AKA icing, sprinkles, and candy)! After we enjoy eating our cookies together, we will begin our project making a bouquet of handmade paper flowers which will go onto a 2D vase canvas that will be decorated with textures and colours that represent love to you!
Sunday, March 26 – Shamrock Shake Blending and Playing Fun Games of Luck
Make sure you wear your lucky socks to this St. Patrick’s themed session where we will blend and enjoy shamrock shakes together. Next, we will play a variety of luck-based games such as bingo and scratch to match. Our session will conclude with everyone drawing their own version of a lucky rainbow by including what lucky thing that they would want to find at the end of the rainbow (treasure chest, candy, vacation, etc.)!
Sunday, April 30 – Taco Bowl Bar and Treasure Hunt
Celebrate Earth Month with a taco bowl bar where the bowl itself is edible! Fill the star shaped tortilla bowl with anything from the taco toppings bar and help make a positive impact on the environment by skipping the dishes! After we finish eating our taco bowls, we will head outside for a fun treasure hunt! Each treasure you find can be opened up to learn a new tip about ways to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle (because learning while you’re having fun is the best)!
Sunday, May 28 – Pineapple Smoothies and Citronella Candle Making
As we are just weeks away from the official start of summer, what better way to kick it off than with a fresh fruit smoothie served in a pineapple instead of a cup! While we are sipping our smoothies, we will begin the process of making citronella candles which are highly effective at deterring mosquitos when used outside! While the candles are hardening, we will make customized labels to put on the jar so that the candle you take home at the end of the day is uniquely yours!
